GNFC NEWSLETTER – October 07

Dear GNFC members and parents,

Here is the first regular monthly update that hopes to keep you informed of all that’s happening in and around GNFC.

Club Development:

The club received a grant of £8730 in July

The money is to be used for coach training, goals, part time administrator, training liaison coaches to be linked to local schools.

We have plans to develop an astro-turf training area at the Discovery Centre. The plans have been drawn up and the bid to the Football Foundation will be taken forward by Braintree District Council as a joint bid with GNFC who have pledged to match funds up to £200K.

GNFC is looking for local companies that are willing to sponsor a team for the season; in return they can have team photos in their sponsored kit, with the logo on the front and a link from the 'Sponsors' page on our website, and publicity on promotional days.

Tesco Vouchers – We are collecting Tesco vouchers again this year. Last year we collected over 3,000 and want to beat that number. Please hand any vouchers to your team manager who will pass onto a committee member, or post them through the door of 47 Windermere Drive, White Court.

Team News:

Did you realise how fast our club is growing? We now have 21 teams ranging from U6 to U16.

In the past year a new 9-a-side soccer league has been formed in the Chelmsford area and we now have 5 teams playing this format of football in U11 and U12 age-group.

Although it is still possible to go straight from mini-soccer to 11-a-side on full size pitches at U11, the club has made a decision to promote the 9-a-side format as the best way to develop and transition players into the full-size version of the game.

Here is a link to the Chelmer & Crouch League website for those who want to know more:

http://www.chelmerandcrouchyouthleague.org.uk/

For the majority of teams that play in the Blackwater and Dengie League you can view results and league tables on their website:

http://www.juniorfootball.org/

You may also have noticed that a lot of the clubs results appear in the Braintree and Witham times and Essex Chronicle.

If your team’s results aren’t listed why not approach your team manager and offer to submit a match report each week. We can give you further details on how to do this.

Club Website – The new club website has a page for each team and managers or team representatives can post match reports and photos.

We are also creating a club shop page which will be available for parents to buy club branded kit. This will be available in the next couple of months.

Logon at: www.gn-fc.com

Your team – If you would like to feature your team in an article please e-mail: communications@gn-fc.com and we will publish it in the next newsletter. It could be a match report, fundraising event or maybe a social event that your team has recently taken part in. Let us know…………………

Coerver Coaching:

We are currently running a Coerver Coaching course for on Tuesday evenings (moving to Monday after half-term)

The session is run by a professional coach from Coerver and concentrates mainly on ball skills, improving first touch etc.

It is designed to supplement the coaching provided on Saturday mornings.

For those of you who don’t know about the Coerver Coaching method:

The World’s No.1 Football Teaching Method - COERVER® COACHING

Professional Coaching is now available from Coerver over the half term for members of GNFC. The Coerver session will be taken by two full-time Coerver coaches. For more information visit www.coerver.co.uk

SIR GEOFF HURST - FIFA World Cup™ Champion and only man to score 3 goals in a World Cup Final, England

"Coerver Coaching's focus on teaching (individual) skills is, in my opinion, the best way to improve the next generation of players”

JUERGEN KLINSMANN

German World Cup Champion

"I wish the Coerver Coaching Programme had been available when I was young - it would certainly have made me a better player."

The session lasts for an hour, costs £3.50 for the session (which is paid on the night) and there is no need to pre-book – just turn up.

It takes place on the Green on a Tuesday evening for the next two weeks and due to the evenings now drawing in this will begin at 5.45pm till 6.45. After the half term the weekly Coerver sessions will then move to a MONDAY evening, 6 pm till 7pm at the Discovery Centre on the hard-court, starting back on Monday 29th October through to Monday 3rd December and recommencing on 7th January 2008, thereafter.

The club has also arranged for Coerver to run a 3 day course in the forthcoming half term holiday. This will be from 10am till 3pm, on the Green on Monday 22nd October to Wednesday 24th October. The cost will be £45 for the 3 days or £16 per individual day, spaces permitting. If your child is interested in the half-term course, please e-mail Eddie Randall with their details. Eddie’s email address is eddierandall@thinkpositive.co.uk

Goalkeeper Coaching:

Some of you may not realise that the club has access to specialist goalkeeper training

At the moment this takes place on a Wednesday night behind Notley Green community centre.

The coaching is provided by Nick Eyres who is a former England Youth goal-keeper and the feedback from all who currently attend this is very positive

If you think your child might enjoy this then the contact is: Mick Eyres (Nick’s dad) on 07738 252994

Good Neighbours:

The club is very conscious of it’s responsibilities to the local community and we would like to remind parents that they shouldn’t park around the green for both training and match-days.

Now that winter’s approaching we would be grateful if parents could try to ensure their children do not leave mud on the path’s surround the green or in the car parks.

Please try to knock the mud off boots before you leave the green – this is one of the biggest causes of complaints from local residents.

Adhering to these simple rules means that the local council are on our side when it comes to funding developments like the astro-turf for the Discovery Centre.

Forthcoming Events – we need your help:

This year we would like to hold a Christmas event for all of the kids in the club but we need some help to organise and run it. The club is a lot bigger now and volunteers would be appreciated to assist with what has always been an enjoyable event for those taking part – please contact the chairman by e-mail (address above) if you can spare some time either beforehand or on the day.

On a similar theme, an adults Christmas do has been suggested and any ideas you may have would be welcome, again please send these to the chairman; who is coordinating efforts.
